Type of Support:Sanitation improvement, hygiene awareness
Afghanistan continues to face a severe humanitarian crisis caused by over four decades of conflict, economic decline, and repeated natural disasters such as earthquakes and droughts. According to the United Nations, more than 23.7 million people—over half of the population—are in need of humanitarian assistance, with 3.22 million internally displaced persons across the country.
In rural areas, the lack of medical personnel and medicine has left basic healthcare unavailable, and the deterioration of school infrastructure has become a growing concern. In Hesarak Village, Logar Province, a local school with approximately 600 students has only six toilets, most of which are broken or unusable due to severe aging.
World in Peace, in collaboration with the local NGO EJAAD, is working to construct six new toilets and repair existing ones, aiming to ensure a safe and sanitary learning environment for students. Beyond infrastructure, the project includes hygiene education programs for students and community members to promote lasting awareness and healthy sanitation practices.
At present, the assessment and planning phases have been completed, but construction has not yet begun due to fundingshortages. We sincerely seek your support to help provide a safe, clean environment for 600 children to attend school with dignity and confidence.
