Disaster Relief

With climate change intensifying, disasters are becoming more frequent and severe across the world. Earthquakes, floods, and droughts have become threats that no one can ignore.

In 2023, 363 weather-related disasters affected more than 93 million people, and over 26 million were forced to flee their homes — nearly 80% of them due to climate-related events.(UNOCHA)

World in Peace is committed to continuous action, from immediate emergency relief to long-term recovery, including shelter support and community rebuilding — to help people restore safety and hope after disaster strikes.

What we do

Emergency Supply Support

Delivering life-saving relief when it’s needed most.

During disasters, many people are forced to flee with nothing but the clothes they are wearing. Working closely with local organizations, World in Peace provides emergency supplies tailored to the urgent needs of affected communities, ensuring that help reaches them quickly and effectively.

Recovery Support

Rebuilding communities, restoring hope.

Recovery is a long journey. While some survivors relocate, others choose to remain and rebuild their hometowns. Together with local partners, we support community recovery through activities such as events in temporary housing and initiatives that bring people together to reconnect and heal.

Livelihood Recovery

Helping people rebuild their lives.

After a disaster, many lose their income and face uncertainty about the future. We work with local support centers and partner organizations to connect survivors with public assistance, essential services, and opportunities for employment and education, empowering them to regain stability and rebuild their lives with dignity.

Our Initiatives

Domestic Activities

Ishikawa | Community Support

Following the earthquakes and heavy rains in the Noto region, many residents were forced to live in temporary housing. Feelings of isolation and mental and physical strain became major challenges. In collaboration with a local nonprofit based in Osaka, CONCENT, World in Peace supported community events by providing sweets, drinks, and workshop materials, helping residents reconnect and find comfort through shared experiences.

Iwate | Livelihood Recovery Assistance

Partnering with Ofunato Yorisoi Mirai Net, weekly consultation centers opened to listen to and support local residents. More than 50 cases have been addressed, leading to expanded aid for those who lost income due to damaged fishing equipment and storage facilities. Acting as a bridge between residents and local authorities, we also helped ensure that financial support reached people whose homes were not directly damaged.

Overseas Activities

Afghanistan | Emergency Disaster Relief

In partnership with LEARN Afghan, we provided food, shelter, and medical assistance to those affected by the earthquake. Our local team delivered essential support quickly and directly to the people most in need.
