After earthquakes struck the Kunar and Jalalabad regions of Afghanistan, our local partner organization, LEARN Afghan, quickly launched an emergency response to support affected families. Within just 72 hours, a trained team of 8 local medical staff reached the impacted communities and began providing urgent medical and humanitarian assistance.

The total cost of this emergency operation was USD 6,743. Of this amount, World in Peace contributed USD 1,000, with the remaining funds coming from LEARN Afghan’s internal emergency resources.

Through this joint effort, more than 300 people, including women, children, and men, received medical consultations and treatment. The team used portable medical equipment to assess injuries and monitor health conditions directly in the field. Essential medicines and first aid supplies were distributed, and individuals with serious conditions were referred to nearby hospitals for further care. Women also received hygiene and dignity kits, helping to restore a sense of comfort and privacy after the disaster. In addition, basic hygiene awareness activities were carried out to help prevent illness in the affected communities.

A strong focus was placed on supporting women and girls. Female doctors and nurses were actively involved in delivering care, and most of the beneficiaries were women and children. This response demonstrated how local, women-led teams can act quickly and effectively during emergencies, using their knowledge of the community to provide culturally appropriate support.

All funds provided, including World in Peace’s contribution, were used directly for on-the-ground activities such as medical services, medicines, and emergency response logistics. We are deeply grateful to LEARN Afghan and their dedicated medical team for their commitment and hard work under challenging conditions.

While immediate medical support has been delivered, many families still face long-term challenges, including limited access to healthcare and safe housing. World in Peace will continue working with trusted local partners to support recovery efforts and stand with communities affected by disasters.

Thank you for your continued support, which made this life-saving response possible.
