Following the earthquake and heavy rainfall disasters in the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture, many people lost their homes and are now living in temporary housing. As more residents move into these communities, new challenges have emerged, particularly the physical and emotional strain of adjusting to unfamiliar living environments.
Many residents face feelings of isolation within temporary housing, and the prolonged period of displacement has raised concerns about stress-related health issues, including sleep difficulties and general physical discomfort. In situations like this, it becomes especially important for neighbors to get to know one another and build relationships where they can support each other. Creating spaces where natural, comfortable interaction can take place is a key step toward rebuilding a sense of community.
With the generous cooperation of NPO CONCENT, World in Peace supported the organization of a community exchange event for residents living in temporary housing.
The event featured a variety of activities that could be enjoyed by people of all ages, including:
- A magic show
- Massage experiences
- A paracord crafting workshop
To help make these activities possible, World in Peace provided supplies such as snacks, drinks, and materials needed for the workshops. Though modest, we hope these moments offered participants a chance to smile, relax, and feel a sense of connection with those around them.
World in Peace will continue working to support emotional well-being and community rebuilding in disaster-affected areas, standing alongside those on the path toward recovery.
