On August 29, 2026, World in Peace had the opportunity to participate in STAND UP FOR KUMAMOTO, a charity stand-up comedy show held at Ki Bar Kyoto from 8:00 PM.
Hosted by comedian Kyosuke Nomura (@kyosukecomedy), STAND UP FOR KUMAMOTO was a first-time initiative bringing together comedy and disaster relief support for communities affected by the Kumamoto earthquake.
Bringing Comedy and Disaster Relief Together

The event came to life after Kyosuke approached World in Peace with the idea of connecting comedy with disaster relief.
With the support of many comedians, behind-the-scenes staff, volunteers, and everyone who contributed to making the evening possible, the event became an opportunity not only to enjoy comedy, but also to learn about the ongoing need for support in Kumamoto.
World in Peace operated a special booth at the event, where attendees could make donations in person and ask questions about our disaster relief activities and how their contributions could support communities in Kumamoto.
We were especially encouraged to meet visitors from outside Japan. Some attendees told us that they had not previously known about the earthquake in Kumamoto. Through the event, they were able to learn about the situation, contribute to relief efforts, and become connected to an issue they had not known about before.
For us, this was an important reminder that creating opportunities to learn and take action can be just as meaningful as raising funds.
¥63,374 + US$20 Raised in One Night

Thanks to everyone who attended and contributed, ¥63,374 and US$20 was donated during the Kyoto event.
Every contribution, regardless of its size, represents someone’s willingness to support communities in Kumamoto.
These donations will be used through World in Peace to provide medium- to long-term support for Kumamoto earthquake relief.
Following the Osaka event, we plan to announce the final total amount raised through the full STAND UP FOR KUMAMOTO initiative.

Thank You
World in Peace would like to express our sincere gratitude to Kyosuke Nomura, all of the comedians, event staff, volunteers, venue staff, and everyone who donated or supported STAND UP FOR KUMAMOTO.
An event like this is only possible because many people come together and contribute what they can.
What began as an idea to connect comedy and disaster relief became a night where people could laugh, learn, and take action together.
And this is only Part 1.
We look forward to continuing this effort in Osaka on September 4.
